SONOMA COUNTY- Caltrans will close westbound Baker Avenue at the Highway 101 overcrossing in Santa Rosa to allows workers to replace bridge railings that line both sides of the overpass.

The closure will begin in the early morning hours of Tuesday, January 3, and stay in place until work is complete, sometime in mid-February 2023.

The current lattice-style railings will be replaced with a solid, sturdier railing, which will be safer in the event of an accident and will be easier to repair for Caltrans crews.

Westbound traffic will be detoured onto southbound Santa Rosa Avenue to the Hearn Street overcrossing.

Northbound Hwy 101 traffic will be directed by electronic message board to take the Hearn Street exit to reach westbound Baker Street.

(See map for all complete set of detours.) Eastbound Baker Avenue will not be closed.

Caltrans recently replaced the bridge railings at the nearby Todd Street overcrossing. The project also includes the replacement of bridge railings at the Miller Creek Road overcrossing in Marin County, which is currently underway.
