Between Magazine Street and Carquinez Bridge

Motorists Advised to Slow Down

Temporary Traffic Configuration On Westbound I-80 Traffic Lanes

      Starts Friday, March 11, 2022

SOLANO COUNTY – Caltrans will be shifting the current traffic lane configuration on westbound Interstate-80 (I-80) between the Magazine Street Exit and the Carquinez Bridge in Vallejo stating Friday, March 11, 2022.

Motorists are advised to slow down in the construction zone and watch for the new traffic lane configuration.

Traffic lanes on westbound I-80 will be shifted to the median section to allow crews to continue constructing and replacing an elevated section of I-80 above State Route-29 (SR/29) also known as Sonoma Boulevard.

Traffic lanes on eastbound I-80 will remain in their current configuration but will now be located directly adjacent to westbound I-80 lanes.

The SR-29/I-80 Separation Bridge Reconstruction Project replaces a 6,000’ wide section of elevated highway which includes all eastbound and westbound travel lanes on I-80 just east of the Carquinez Bridge.

For worker and public safety, various overnight lane closures will also be in effect on westbound and eastbound I-80 near Magazine Street starting on Tuesday, March 8 at 9:00 PM until Wednesday, March 9 at 6:00 AM.

Overnight, crews will relocate movable concrete barriers known as K-Rails to allow for the new traffic configuration and the next phase of construction as crews replace this elevated section of I-80.

Caltrans thanks motorists and the public for their patience and understanding as we work to maintain our State’s highways, bridges and tunnels.
