55-Hour Weekend Closures Scheduled for the Southbound Appian Way Overcrossing

Contra Costa County — Caltrans is scheduled to fully close the southbound Appian Way Overcrossing in the City of Pinole for two weekends (55 hours each), from Friday at 9:00 PM to Monday at 4:00 AM, to complete critical bridge maintenance and upgrades. Additional nighttime lane and ramp closures may also occur in the area.

Closure Schedule:

  • Weekend 1: Friday, August 15, 2025, at 9:00 PM to Monday, August 18, 2025, at 4:00 AM
  • Weekend 2: Friday, August 22, 2025, at 9:00 PM to Monday, August 25, 2025, at 4:00 AM

Detour:

  • Traffic continuing southbound Appian Way will be detoured via WB I-80 to Fitzgerald Parkway to Fitzgerald Drive back (EB I-80 or) to Appian Way.

Minor delays are expected — motorists should plan ahead and allow extra travel time.

Please note, all work is weather-dependent and subject to change due to field or scheduling constraints.

Changeable message signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow extra time.
