Bridge Deck Repairs

Expect Delays Overnight

SOLANO and SACRAMENTO COUNTIES – Caltrans will perform bridge deck repairs on the State Route 12 (SR-12) Rio Vista Bridge. Work is scheduled on Thursday, March 3 at 8:00 PM until Friday, March 4 at 6:00 AM. The Rio Vista Bridge spans the Sacramento River between Sacramento and Solano Counties.

For worker and public safety, one-way traffic controls will be in effect on the bridge during the work. Crews will repair small holes in the bridge deck called spalls. These spalls develop during normal wear and tear requiring repair work. The bridge remains safe for the motoring public.

During one-way traffic controls, one lane of traffic will remain open at all times, with crews alternating traffic in the westbound and eastbound directions. Bridge traffic will be reduced to one-lane starting at  8:00 PM until 6:00 AM the following morning or until the work is completed..

Flaggers will help direct traffic. Motorists should expect delays and allow for extra travel time. Work is weather permitting. For boat and ship traffic, the bridge will operate normally for any vessels passing underneath it along the Sacramento River.

Caltrans appreciates your patience as we work to maintain our highways and bridges.
