Nighttime Bike Lane Closures on I-580 Richmond/San Rafael Bridge
Sunday, August 14 - Tuesday, August 16 for inspection and maintenance
Bicycle shuttle available during closure
CONTRA COSTA & MARIN counties - Caltrans will close the bicycle/pedestrian lane on the I-580 Richmond/San Rafael Bridge for consecutive nights beginning Sunday, August 14, 2022, to allow work crews to sweep, make safety inspections and perform preventive maintenance on the moveable bike safety barrier.
The bi-direction bicycle lane is on the upper deck (westbound direction) of the bridge. A bike and pedestrian shuttle will be available during the closures.
The Closure Schedule:
Sunday, August 14, 9:00 PM – 5:00 AM, Monday, August 15
Monday, August 15, 11:59 PM - 5:00 AM, Tuesday, August 16
Tuesday, August 16, 11:59 PM - 5:00 AM, Wednesday, August 17
Caltrans will operate a bike shuttle to transport pedestrians, and cyclists and their bikes during the closure. Pickup/drop-off stations will be located at each end of the bridge: In Richmond at the Stenmark Drive entrance to the bridge path, and in San Rafael at the Vista Point.
Caltrans staff will be stationed at each location to coordinate pickups and drop-offs with the shuttle operator.
