SONOMA COUNTY – As part of the Petaluma Widening Project on U.S. Highway 101 in Sonoma County, Caltrans will close the right lane and the auxiliary lane on northbound Highway 101 prior to the E. Washington Street off-ramp in Petaluma.  The off-ramp itself will also be closed.  The closures will occur between 8:00 PM, Monday, March 7 and 6:00 the following morning.

E Washington Ramps

The following three nights, Tuesday, March 8 through Thursday, March 10, Caltrans will close the right lane (#2) of southbound Highway 101 and the off-ramp to E. Washington Street from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM.  Traffic headed for the E. Washington Street ramp during closure hours will be detoured to Lakeville Highway (State Route 116).

The closures will allow work crews to install poles that will hold electronic signs.

The new electronic signs are part of the Petaluma Widening Project in Sonoma County. Caltrans is widening the Highway 101 by adding a carpool lane to northbound and southbound Highway 101, creating a six-lane freeway of three lanes in each direction.

The project is one of 13 projects in the larger Marin/Sonoma Narrows widening project to add a carpool lane in each direction of Highway 101 between State Route 37 in Marin and Corona Road in northern Petaluma.
