Roundabout project – 20 years in the making - replaces four-way stop intersection and adds bike lanes and sidewalks
What: A groundbreaking ceremony celebrating the commencement of construction of a roundabout to replace the existing four-way stop intersection at the junction of State Routes 116 and 121, considered a gateway to Sonoma County Wine Country. The project includes bicycle lanes and sidewalks in a location currently devoid of such features. A Park and Ride lot will be relocated from the center of the current intersection to the north side of the new roundabout.
Where: Park and Ride lot at the center of the intersection of State Route 116, State Route121, and Bonneau Road in Sonoma County.

Why: The project will markedly improve traffic circulation and operations at the current four-way stop intersection, which is characterized by congestion and pollution-generating stop-and-go traffic. The frequency and severity of accidents will decline due to the slower speeds required by the roundabout's circular design and the lack of traffic conflict points. Adding bicycle lanes, bright, well- striped crosswalks, and sidewalks will encourage multimodal transportation, and increase livability in this area.
