Caldecott Tunnel Bores 1 and 2 Closed for Tunnel Maintenance EB24

Alameda / Contra Costa Counties – Caltrans will implement a full closure of the Caldecott Tunnel, Bores #1 and #2, Eastbound (EB) of State Route 24 (SR-24) between Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. The work will began on Monday, June 24 through Friday, June 28, 2019, starting at 9:30 PM until 4:30 AM. This closure will allow workers to complete tunnel washing operations for each bore.

Closure Information:

Bore #1:

  • Monday, June 24: Closed from 9:30 PM until 4:30 AM, Tuesday, June 25.
  • Tuesday, June 25: Closed from 9:30 PM until 4:30 PM, Wednesday, June 26.

Bore #2:

  • Wednesday, June 26: Closed from 9:30 PM until 4:30 AM, Thursday, June 27.
  • Thursday, June 27: Closed from 9:30 PM until 4:30 AM, Friday, June 28.

Traffic delays and construction noise may be associated with this closure.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow extra time for their commute. Please drive with caution through the construction zone. Slow for the Cone Zone.

California Highway Patrol will be on site during night closures.
