RIDGECREST-The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) confirms all roads remain open near the series of earthquakes and aftershocks that hit Ridgecrest and the surrounding area. This includes SR-178, which was previously closed and has undergone emergency temporary repairs. Heavy equipment will be used to make permanent repairs.

The California Highway Patrol and the Caltrans Traffic Management Team, will be monitoring and slowing traffic in the area where work is being done.

Temporary repairs have been made to SR-178, there is uneven pavement approximately 6 and 8 miles east of Ridgecrest. Drivers: please slow down and drive with caution when you travel through this, and any, work zone. More permanent repairs will be made by a contractor later today. There are flaggers in certain locations along the route. Please look out for Caltrans and emergency personnel and help make sure everyone makes it home safely.
