SONOMA COUNTY – As part of the Petaluma Widening Project on U.S. Highway 101 in Sonoma County, Caltrans will close the off-ramp from southbound Highway 101 to E. Washington Street between 9:00 PM, Friday, March 25 to 3:00 PM, Saturday, March 26, 2022.  The ramp will be closed again from 9:00 PM, Saturday, March 26, until 7:00 AM, Sunday March 27, 2022.

The closures will allow Caltrans to demolish and realign the E. Washington Street off-ramp, making upgrades to adapt to the newly widened freeway and maximizing traffic flow.

Monday – Thursday, March 7-10, Caltrans implemented lane closures on Highway 101 and ramp closure to E. Washington Street to allow Caltrans to place poles that will hold electronic signs.

Work on the E. Washington off-ramp is part of the Petaluma Widening Project. Caltrans is widening the Highway 101 by adding a carpool lane to northbound and southbound Highway 101, creating a six-lane freeway of three lanes in each direction.

The project is one of 13 projects in the larger Marin/Sonoma Narrows widening project to add a carpool lane in each direction of Highway 101 between State Route 37 in Marin and Corona Road in northern Petaluma.
