Solano, Napa and Sonoma Counties – Caltrans (District 4) Bay Area reopened State Route 37 (SR-37) in both Eastbound (EB) and Westbound (WB) directions, between Vallejo and Sonoma County, at approximately 2:15 a.m. on Monday, October 26, about 3 hours ahead of schedule.

The scheduled 55-hour full highway weekend closures were needed to realign traffic lanes as crews continue to expedite work to repair the highway as part of emergency preparedness for El Niño storms.

Motorists should drive with caution as eastbound and westbound SR-37 are now in a new temporary traffic configuration and the speed limit is now temporarily reduced to 45 miles per hour, just west of Vallejo. Motorists will also need to drive adjacent to newly positioned moveable concrete barriers known as K-Rail.

During this new temporary traffic configuration, the eastbound SR-37 exit to Mare Island exit will also be closed. Motorists exiting eastbound SR-37 to Mare Island should use the Wilson Avenue exit until further notice.

In the meantime, this weekend, crews were able to complete median demolition and k-rail installation to temporarily shift both eastbound and westbound traffic to the westbound lanes.

In the coming days, crews will now focus their efforts on the eastbound lanes to raise portions of the roadway by 3 feet to improve resiliency and address flooding concerns along this vital transportation corridor.

In addition, overnight secondary closures in November 2026 will be needed as work on SR-37 continues. Caltrans will provide detailed information with specific dates and times as soon as information is available.
