San Mateo County ― To prevent gridlock and enhance safety, left turns are prohibited on State Route 82 (El Camino Real) in active construction zones within the cities of San Mateo, Burlingame, and Hillsborough.
Vehicles may not turn left within the following sections of El Camino Real:
- Bellevue Ave to Sanchez Ave through mid-November
- Hilltop Rd to Peninsula Ave through mid-November
- Hillside Dr to Lincoln Ave through December
These left-turn restrictions are in effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for the duration of construction in each listed work zone.

The $173M El Camino Real roadway rehabilitation project will maintain El Camino Real as a safe, accessible, and reliable transportation corridor.
