One-way Traffic Control for State Route 131 Capital Preventive Maintenance Project in late August, early September 2026

Construction could start as early as Monday, Aug. 31 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Marin County — Caltrans is scheduled to begin work on the State Route 131 (Tiburon Boulevard) Capital Preventive Maintenance Project in the Town of Tiburon. The project could begin as early as Monday, Aug. 31.

State Route 131 Capital Preventative Maintenance Project Map 2026. Phase 1 includes pavement repair from US-101 interchange tot he Tiburon Boulevard/Main Street intersection, bikeways along SR-131 from Tower Drive near US-101 interchange to Blackfield Drive, and introduces a temporary two-way Class 1 bike path on the inbound side of SR-131, from Strawberry Drive to Blackfield Drive.

Curb ramp and sidewalk work will start at various intersections along SR-131. Intermittent one-way traffic control may be required between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Paving for the project is scheduled for spring 2027.

Flaggers will be present to help motorists navigate traffic.

More specific information about intersections will be updated on future traffic advisories.

The purpose of the project is to improve serviceability and ride quality on SR-131 and restore existing drainage systems to reduce the potential for highway flooding and to increase the safety for the public.

In addition, the project will enhance and complete streets and support active modes of transportation by bridging a gap in the transportation network and improve bicycle access throughout the area.

The location of the project is approximately 1,000 feet west of US-101 interchange to the Tiburon Boulevard/Main Street intersection.
