Contra Costa County — Caltrans has revised its schedule for ongoing construction work at the Appian Way and Cummings Skyway overcrossings above Interstate 80 (I-80) in Contra Costa County. The updated schedule includes planned temporary lane and ramp closures during daytime, nighttime, and weekends.
Closure Schedule & Details
Appian Way Overcrossing Overnight One Lane Closed (Southbound):
- Dates: June 29 – July 3, 2026 & July 6 -July 10, 2026
- Time: 7:00 PM – 5:00 AM (nightly)
- Work: Asbestos removal
- Impact: One lane closed on southbound Appian Way overcrossing near I-80.
Appian Way Overcrossing Extended Weekend One Lane Closure (Southbound):
- Dates: Friday, July 10 – Monday July 13, 2026
- Time: 7:00 PM (Friday) – 7:00 AM (Monday)
- Work: Approach slab reconstruction
- Impact: Continuous one lane closed on southbound Appian Way overcrossing near I 80.
Additional Information
- No mainline lane closures on I-80 or Cummings Skyway Overcrossing closures are planned until after the July 4th holiday weekend
- All work is weather-dependent and subject to change
