Overnight Closures Scheduled for Westbound State Route 24 Caldecott Tunnel Bore #4

Tuesday, July 7, 2026, and Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 10:00 PM to 4:30 AM

Alameda and Contra Costa Counties – Caltrans maintenance will conduct overnight closures of Bore 4 of the Caldecott Tunnel on westbound State Route 24 (SR-24) to perform ventilation and routine tunnel maintenance. All scheduled activities are subject to weather conditions and may be adjusted as required.

Two lanes of traffic travel through the Caldecott Tunnel between Contra Costa and Alameda Counties.

Bore #4 Closures WB SR-24 10 PM – 4:30 AM

During this closure, at least one bore in each direction will remain open.

Traffic Control Measures:
Changeable message signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. Motorists are advised to expect delays, prepare to merge and allow for extra travel time. Please drive with caution through the construction zone. Slow for the Cone Zone.
