All lanes opened at 6 a.m. – about 4 hours ahead of schedule
San Francisco County — Caltrans is pleased to announce that the third weekend closure for the 19th Avenue Rehabilitation Project finished on Monday, May 25 around 6 a.m. – about 4 hours ahead of schedule.

This 75-hour operation finished all Northbound and Southbound lanes on 19th Avenue from Holloway Avenue to Sloat Boulevard, covering seven blocks and about six lane miles on 19th Avenue, also known as State Route 1.
This phase of the project repaved all northbound and southbound lanes of 19th Avenue between Lincoln Way and Holloway Avenue, approximately 18.8 lane miles. The California Street intersection will be paved later this summer. This project will also upgrade the traffic detection system.
Organizing the work in three weekend closures reduced impact on the public from 40 to 10 days.
Caltrans extends its sincere appreciation to all travelers who adjusted their weekend plans — whether by taking public transportation, using designated alternate routes, or postponing trips through the corridor. Your cooperation significantly reduced congestion, enhanced safety for work crews, and played a vital role in enabling early reopening.
While the weekend closures of 19th Avenue are complete, there is some final striping scheduled in the night hours this week, and some electrical work will be scheduled in June. Those operations are not expected to have a heavy impact on the traveling public or the residents on 19th Avenue.
