High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Sign Modification in Marin, Sonoma Counties on US-101 Scheduled to be Completed on Friday, Feb. 27

Schedule: New HOV hours scheduled to go into effect on Monday, March 2

Marin County and Sonoma County — Crews are scheduled to finish updating high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) signs along Northbound and Southbound US-101 in a 52-mile stretch on the evening of Friday, Feb. 27. Signs along the corridor in both counties are being modified with signs displaying new uniform carpool hours that were announced in late January.

New hours that are scheduled to go into effect on Monday, March 2 will be 6 to 9 a.m. in the mornings and 3 to 6:30 p.m. in the evenings, Monday through Friday. The hours are based on Caltrans traffic analysis along the corridor that was completed in January.

Signs are being updated along the entire length of the HOV lanes, stretching from the Richardson Bay Bridge in Marin County and Windsor in Sonoma County.

The new hours will continue to be consistent in Marin and Sonoma counties and will cover a majority of the peak commute hours in both directions in the morning and afternoon/evening.

All sign replacement work is weather permitting.

As part of broader transportation management efforts, Caltrans (in partnership with its transportation partners) activated nine ramp meters along northbound and southbound US-101 in Marin and Sonoma counties on Tuesday, Dec. 2. More ramp metering is scheduled to be activated along the corridor as construction activities are completed in the field.
