Update: Benicia Bridge Work On Hold – Steel Weld Inspection & Plate Repairs Continues on Carquinez Bridge

Contra Costa & Solano Counties — Caltrans is performing essential T1 Steel Weld Inspection Project weld inspections and repairs on the Carquinez Bridge (I-80) and Benicia-Martinez Bridge (I-680). This work is critical to maintaining the ongoing structural integrity of both bridges.

Due to steel plate fabrication lead times, Benicia Bridge work is on hold up to 2 weeks. Carquinez Bridge closures are now expected to continue through February 2026, weather permitting.

Benicia Bridge Southbound I-680 Lane Closures

  • Work On Hold
    No lane closures scheduled. Work in Bike path expected through January 2026.

Carquinez Bridge Eastbound I-80 Lane/Ramp Closures

  • Monday–Thursday: 3AM – 12PM
    Friday/Saturday: 12AM – 9AM

    Full Closure: EB I-80 Onramp from Pomona St/San Pablo Ave
    Lane Closures: EB I-80 Lanes 3 and 4 from Refinery Rd to Carquinez Toll Plaza

The work is expected to continue:
Carquinez Bridge Closures through February 2026
Benicia Bridge Closures through January 2026
