55-Hour Weekend Closure Scheduled for the Southbound Appian Way Overcrossing

Contra Costa County — Caltrans has scheduled another Full closure of SB Appian Way Overcrossing over I-80 in Pinole for 55 hours, from Friday at 9:00 PM to Monday at 4:00 AM, for the Bridge Railing and Bearing Pad Replacement. The closures will allow workers to safely remove and replace the bridge bearing pads.

Closure Schedule:

  • Weekend 1: Friday, August 15, 2025, at 9:00 PM to Monday, August 18, 2025, at 4:00 AM
  • Weekend 2: Friday, August 22, 2025, at 9:00 PM to Monday, August 25, 2025, at 4:00 AM

Detour: Traffic continuing southbound Appian Way

  • Traffic will be detoured onto WB I-80 and will exit at Richmond Parkway before taking the EB I-80 Appian Way offramp

Minor delays are expected — motorists should plan ahead and allow extra travel time

Please note, all work is weather-dependent and subject to change due to field or scheduling constraints.

Changeable message signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area.
