Southbound 101 closes Mon. – Tues., August 18 -19, 11:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
Northbound 101 closes Wed. – Thurs., August 20 - 21, 11:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
Santa Rosa — As part of the Highway (Hwy) 101/Hearn Avenue Overcrossing Replacement Project in Santa Rosa, Caltrans will close one direction (northbound or southbound) of Hwy 101 to install 120-foot girders that will serve as support for the new Hearn Avenue Overcrossing.
Caltrans will close southbound Hwy 101 at the Corby/Baker Avenue off ramp Monday – Tuesday, August 18 -19 from 11:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. Two lanes of three lanes of northbound Hwy 101 will be closed at the same time to accommodate the girder placement.
Traffic will detour from the freeway at the Corby/Baker Avenue off ramp, turn right on Santa Rosa Avenue, right on Hearn Avenue, then left on Corby to Hwy 101.
On Wednesday – Thursday, August 20 -21, from 11:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m., Caltrans will close northbound Hwy 101 at the Yolanda Avenue off ramp. Two of three lanes of southbound Hwy 101 will be closed simultaneously.
Traffic will detour from the freeway at Yolanda Avenue, turn left on Santa Rosa Avenue, then left at Colgan Avenue to Hwy 101.
During the closure, Caltrans will use a 550-ton crane to hoist girders and place them so they rest on the columns in the center median and abutments on the east and west sides of the freeway.
Caltrans and its partners, the Sonoma County Transportation Authority and the City of Santa Rosa, broke ground on the Hearn Avenue Overcrossing Replacement Project in March 2024.
During the project, the existing overcrossing, which has one lane in each direction and a single sidewalk, will be replaced with a new overpass with two traffic lanes per direction, one bicycle lane per direction, and a sidewalk on each side.
