Solano County — The new eastbound Interstate 80 (I-80) express lane running between Fairfield and Vacaville is now open to High-Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) traffic as of 8:00 AM Saturday, June 28, 2025.
Roadway construction on the new express lane is ongoing and electronics and hardware for collecting tolls are still being installed. In the meantime, this lane is available to vehicles with two or more people on board weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The new HOV lane runs on eastbound I-80 from the Airbase Parkway in Fairfield to Interstate 505 (I-505) interchange in Vacaville.
As work is still in progress, Caltrans asks motorists to please be mindful of their speed for the safety of our workers. Caltrans and its transportation partners the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), the Solano Transportation Authority (STA) expect to formally launch the completed express lane by late 2025.
