Schedule: Friday, April 11 and Monday, April 14 through Friday, April 18
Marin County — Caltrans is scheduled to continue work on the State Route 1 (Shoreline Highway) Capital Preventative Maintenance Project in April. The project started in the spring of 2024 and went into winter suspension in November.
One-way traffic control will be utilized for paving north of the town of Tomales on Friday, April 11, Monday, April 14 and Tuesday, April 15 from 3 p.m. until about 3 a.m. The estimate to reach paving in the town of Tomales is Wednesday, April 16 and should last about two days. Paving in town will occur between 5 p.m. and about 3 a.m. depending on temperatures.
The work includes the full width of the road all through town.
No-parking signs have been set up in the town of Tomales ahead of time to explain when paving will occur.
All work is dependent on weather and temperature.
The overall project will repair segments of SR-1 and will include cycling and pedestrian upgrades. The project is slated to make improvements during a nearly 14-mile stretch from Olema through Point Reyes Station and from Tomales to the county line.
The upgrades include pavement resurfacing and repairs; restriping; culvert replacements to improve drainage; shoulder widening to help cyclists; guardrail, crosswalk, and signage upgrades; new signage; and sidewalk and path upgrades to meet disability access standards and improve access to West Marin-Inverness School in Point Reyes Station.
The completion timeline for the project is Summer 2025.
