Solano County - Caltrans has scheduled a long-term closure of the State Route 220 (SR-220) J-Mack Ferry. The closure starts Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 12:01 AM and will continue for approximately 2-3 months. The closure is needed to perform repairs and federally mandated Coast Guard inspections.
Per Coast Guard regulations, the J-Mack ferry cannot operate until the boat is dry-docked, the hull has been inspected at its 5-year interval, and the inspection is completed.
Beginning September 29, 2024, at 12:01 P.M. concrete movable barriers (K-Rail) will be placed on both sides of SR-220 J-Mack slips. The Ferry will remain docked at the slip until the ferry is transported to the shipyard.
Caltrans will provide more detailed dates and times for the J-Mack’s return to service as soon as information is available.
The Delta’s companion ferry, the Real Mccoy Ferry (SR-84) can be used for crossings, while the J-Mack Ferry is out of service. Additionally, the State Route 84 Miners Slough Bridge can also be used to access Ryer island.
Caltrans regrets any inconvenience for motorists and residents who use the ferry to access Ryer Island.
