Alameda County — Caltrans has scheduled to close the State Route 61 Webster Tube overnight Tuesday, September 3, re-opening the following morning. The next day, Wednesday, September 4, the tube will again close overnight, reopening the following morning.
The closures are for maintenance purposes. The tube will be open in the daytime. The Webster and Posey tubes connect the cities of Alameda and Oakland.
The Webster Tube will close at 10 p.m. Tuesday and reopen at 4:30 a.m. the following morning. It will close again at 10 p.m. Wednesday and reopen the following morning. The Webster Tube will be open in the daytime. The closure is nighttime only. The purpose of the closures is to accommodate maintenance work. Work will be postponed if it rains.
The Posey Tube will remain open.
Traffic Control Measures:
Changeable message and directional signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will be at the sites during the closures.
