Lanes Were Closed to Accommodate Removal of Damaged Sign
Pleasanton / Alameda County - All lanes of northbound Interstate 680 HAVE REOPENED at the connector to eastbound Interstate 580. The lanes were closed to accommodate removal of a damaged overhead sign.
An overhead sign stretching across all lanes of northbound Interstate 680 at the connector to eastbound Interstate 580 was damaged during the paving operation when the cab of a work truck flipped open and struck the sign in the early hours of Wednesday morning, August 28.
Caltrans closed all northbound lanes in the area to accommodate removal of the damaged sign. The sign was safely removed, and the lanes reopened around 10:40 a.m.
Caltrans anticipates no adverse impact on the afternoon commute, as there are numerous signs in the area. We will continue to monitor the area and observe and add a new sign or signs if it appears necessary.
