Marin County — Caltrans is scheduled to continue construction on the State Route 1 (Shoreline Highway) Capital Preventative Maintenance Project in June.

Map showing the location of the Capital Preventive Maintenance project on State Route 1 in Marin County. The project location is split into two portions: the southern portion is on SR-1 near Point Reyes Station and Olema from the Olema Creek Bridge to north of Cypress Road; the northern portion is near Tomales, from south of Tomales-Petaluma Road to south of Valley Ford Road. Intermittent one-way traffic control will be utilized as culvert installation will occur in Point Reyes Station on Monday, June 24 and Tuesday, June 25 between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day. Vegetation management and root removal will occur in the Olema area of SR-1 between the same hours.

Intermittent one-way traffic control then will occur in Tomales near Valley Ford Road on Wednesday, June 26 and Thursday, June 27 between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day.

This overall project will repair segments of SR-1 and will include cycling and pedestrian upgrades. The project is slated to make improvements during a nearly 14-mile stretch from Olema through Point Reyes Station and from Tomales to the county line.

The upgrades include pavement resurfacing and repairs; restriping; culvert replacements to improve drainage; shoulder widening to help cyclists; guardrail, crosswalk, and signage upgrades; new signage; and sidewalk and path upgrades to meet disability access standards and improve access to West Marin-Inverness School in Point Reyes Station.

The completion timeline for the project is Summer 2025.

All work is dependent on weather. Please drive with caution. Slow for the Cone Zone and Be Work Zone Alert. Caltrans thanks motorists for their patience while we work to maintain our state's highways, bridges, and tunnels.
