Traffic control began April 7, 2025, and will run until September 2025
SONOMA COUNTY – Caltrans crews activated one-way traffic control yesterday, April 7, 2025, on State Route 1 in Sonoma County about three miles east of Bodega Bay. Two traffic signals, a tenth of a mile apart, will alternate northbound and southbound traffic, allowing work crews to repair a landslide that undermined the shoulder of the southbound lane last December.
Caltrans will build a retaining wall to bolster the roadbed that was severely eroded on December 18, 2025, when a nearby creek, swollen by several days of rain, washed away much of a slope supporting the highway.
Caltrans estimates that the retaining wall will be complete in September 2025, at which time, the one-way traffic control will be lifted.
