Interstate 880 Overnight Lane Closures for Repaving From Milpitas to Fremont Starting in April 2024

Published:

ALAMEDA COUNTY ― Caltrans is rehabilitating Interstate 880 from Milpitas to Fremont for a smoother ride for motorists, repairing potholes and replacing deteriorated roadway pavement and enhancing safety and mobility on the freeway starting in early April 2024.

The work will be performed mainly at night to minimize the impact to motorists on this heavily traveled corridor. One or more lanes will be closed overnight to accommodate the work. Both northbound and southbound I-880 will be repaved, with work beginning on Northbound I-880 the week of April 1.

The work will stretch approximately 12 miles (each direction) from Dixon Landing Road in Milpitas at the Alameda County/Santa Clara County line to Alvarado Boulevard in Fremont. Crews will also repave offramps and onramps.

Signage will be provided to alert motorists to the lane closures and California Highway Patrol will be onsite. The project is scheduled to complete in 2026.

Caltrans thanks the traveling public for your patience as we work to improve the highways, bridges, and tunnels of the Bay Area.
