SANTA CLARA COUNTY – Caltrans has reopened southbound State Route 87 (SR-87) in San Jose on Sunday, October 22 at 8:00 PM. During this 56-hour weekend highway closure, Caltrans performed major pavement repair work on southbound SR-87 in Santa Clara County.
The purpose of the project is to improve ride quality, enhance safety, and extend the service life of the pavement.
Ongoing overnight closures will still take place while Caltrans paves ramps and auxiliary lanes. Curb ramps are being modified to comply with ADA standards. There will also be median barrier work performed between the main line and VTA rail system.

Changeable message and directional signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will be on-site during the closures.
