Lane closure of US-101 southbound in Marin County as PG&E Performs Work on Redwood Boulevard near Novato

Published:

Workday: Thursday, April 20 from 8 p.m. until 4 a.m. on Friday, April 21

MARIN COUNTY — Caltrans has scheduled a closure of the far-right lane on southbound US-101 near Novato to allow PG&E to continue its work from Redwood Boulevard to US-101.

The lane reduction will occur Thursday, April 20 from 8 p.m. until 4 a.m. the morning of Friday, April 21.

The bike path that starts at Olompali State Historic Park near Novato and runs north to Petaluma will continue to be closed as Caltrans continues construction activities on the landslide area on Redwood Boulevard.

The work by Caltrans and PG&E is necessary due to the landslide, which occurred in March after the recent storms. PG&E will be working near the northern portion of the slide area.

On March 21, there was a landslide detected near Redwood Boulevard and Buck Center Drive in Marin County. Later that month, PG&E built a temporary bypass that avoided the impacted slope and ensured safe operations. US-101 southbound was shut down on the weekend of March 25.

Caltrans, PG&E, and the County of Marin have been in collaboration, monitoring the slide area.

Changeable message and directional signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will be on-site during the closures.

Please drive with caution. Slow for the Cone Zone and Be Work Zone Alert. Caltrans thanks motorists for their patience while we work to maintain our state's highways, bridges, and tunnels.
