Workday: Saturday, April 22 from 8 p.m. until 9 a.m. on Sunday, April 23
MARIN COUNTY — Caltrans will restart work on the Richardson Bridge project along US-101 southbound in April. Construction for the project will involve the replacement of the existing asphalt concrete bridge deck surface with new concrete on US-101 at Richardson Bay Bridge in Sausalito and Mill Valley.
The Frontage Road on-ramp for US-101 southbound will be closed on Saturday, April 22 from 8 p.m. until 9 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, April 23 for preliminary site investigation.
Detour for on-ramp closure
From Frontage Road, take US-101 northbound to Tiburon Boulevard (SR-131) westbound.
Take the off-ramp for Tiburon Boulevard.
Loop onto US-101 southbound.
Also, up to three lanes on US-101 southbound near Richardson Bridge will be closed on Saturday, April 22 between 9 p.m. until 8 a.m. on Sunday, April 23. At least one lane will be open to traffic.
All work is dependent on weather.
The bicycle lane on the US-101 southbound shoulder will be shut down during construction hours. Cyclists can take a detour onto US-101 northbound to Frontage Road, turn on Hamilton Drive and then onto the Mill Valley Sausalito bike path. Detour signs will be posted.
Residents in the area may experience noise and dust due to the work. The need for the project is to preserve the existing bridge and to decrease the probability of costly repairs in the future. Changeable message and directional signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will be on-site during the closures.
Please drive with caution. Slow for the Cone Zone and Be Work Zone Alert. Caltrans thanks motorists for their patience while we work to maintain our state's highways, bridges, and tunnels.
Motorists are encouraged to allow extra time and plan their routes ahead of time.
