Lane and Shoulder Closures on International Blvd (SR-185) For Improvements of Sidewalks and Curb Ramps in Oakland February 2023 – January 2024

Published:

Oakland / Alameda County ― Caltrans has scheduled temporary lane and shoulder closures on International Blvd (SR-185) from 50th Ave to 55th Ave. for sidewalk and curb ramp improvements within this stretch of SR-185. Normal closure hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekdays, and from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekends. Detour routes’ signs will be in place to direct traffic during the closures. The bus lane will remain open during construction, and no disruption in bus service is expected.

At sidewalk and shoulder locations where work is taking place, street parking will be restricted temporarily, with “NO PARKING” signs posted 72 hours prior to the work to inform motorists of the restrictions. In addition, when sidewalks and curb ramps are closed for improvements, temporary pedestrian access routes will be provided to guide pedestrians.

The purpose of upgrading the sidewalks and curb ramps is to make it easier for people with mobility-related disabilities to negotiate the intersections.

Every effort will be made to keep noise and disruption to a minimum, but residents and businesses should expect some construction noise.

Caltrans thanks residents and businesses for their patience as we work to bring the driveways, sidewalks, and curb ramps into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
