Night Work on Olive Avenue as Marin-Sonoma Narrows (MSN) B-7 Construction Continues in Novato

MARIN COUNTY — The Marin-Sonoma Narrows B-7 construction project continues in December and January with construction activities (falsework removal) scheduled to close Olive Avenue, which passes underneath US-101 in Novato.

Closed at Kenwood Court

  • Turn left on Chase Street
  • Take a left on Cherry Street
  • Take Cherry Street to Armstrong Ave.
  • Take a left on Atherton Avenue
  • Take a left on Redwood Boulevard
  • Take a left on Olive Avenue

Detour for drivers that are west of US-101 on Olive
Closed at Elmwood Court

  • Take Olive to Redwood Boulevard
  • Take a right on Redwood Boulevard
  • Take a right on Atherton Avenue
  • Take a right on Armstrong Avenue
  • Take Armstrong Avenue to Cherry Street
  • Take a right on Chase Street
  • Take Chase Street to Olive Avenue

No on- or off-ramps on US-101 northbound or southbound will be closed during these hours. Work is scheduled to occur, even in wet conditions.

This is the last remaining High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane construction project as part of the 16-mile US-101 Marin-Sonoma Narrows (MSN) program. This project will complete and allow continuous HOV lanes on US-101 from Sausalito in Marin County to Windsor in Sonoma County. HOV lanes are scheduled to be open for use in the summer of 2025.

Construction includes widening US-101 to install HOV lanes for 3.5 miles along the northbound lanes from North Novato to the Marin, Sonoma line, and for 6.3 miles along the southbound lanes from De Long Avenue to the county line.
