Lane Closures Scheduled at Night For Richardson Bridge

Published:

Work continues Monday, Nov. 14 through Thursday, Nov. 17

MARIN COUNTY — Caltrans will continue construction on the Richardson Bridge project in November along US-101 northbound. The construction work will involve the replacement of the existing asphalt concrete bridge deck surface with new concrete in both the northbound and southbound directions of US-101 at Richardson Bay Bridge in the Sausalito and Mill Valley areas.

Map showing the location on US 101 of the Richardson Bridge Project in Marin County.Four lanes will be closed from Monday, November 14 to Thursday, November 17 from 8 p.m. until 8 a.m. each night. One lane will remain open. The lane closures start just south of the Bridgeway on-ramp and end right before the Seminary Drive exit in Mill Valley.

All work is dependent on weather.

The bicycle lane on the US-101 northbound shoulder will be shut down during construction hours. Cyclists can take a detour to US-101 southbound onto the Mill Valley Sausalito bike path, take a right on Hamilton Drive and a left on Redwood Highway Frontage Road. Detour signs have been posted.

Residents in the area may experience noise and some dust due to the work. The need for the project is to preserve the existing bridge and to decrease the probability of costly repairs in the future.

Changeable message and directional signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will be on-site during the closures.

Please drive with caution. Slow for the Cone Zone and Be Work Zone Alert. Caltrans thanks motorists for their patience while we work to maintain our state's highways, bridges, and tunnels.
