UPDATE: Overnight Four-Hour Closure of I-80 At Gilman Interchange in Berkeley October 25, 2022

ALAMEDA COUNTY – Caltrans has scheduled to close Interstate 80 for four hours overnight at the Gilman Street interchange in Berkeley on October 25, 2022.

Eastbound I-80 will close at 1 a.m. October 25 between the Gilman off-ramp and the Gilman on-ramp and reopen at 5 a.m.

Alternating lane closures will be implemented on eastbound I-80 from 11 p.m. October 23 to 6 a.m. the following morning. Alternating lane closures will also occur on eastbound I-80 from 11 p.m. October 24 to 6 a.m. the following morning.

Alternative lane closures will be implemented on westbound I-80 from 10 p.m. October 25 to 5 a.m. the following morning. Alternating lane closures will also be implemented on eastbound I-80 from 11 p.m. October 26 to 6 a.m. the following morning.

Caltrans had initially planned four full closures of I-80, but the closures were scaled back. The purpose of the closures is to accommodate work on the bicycle/pedestrian overcrossing Caltrans is building south of Gilman Street.

Detours:

Motorists going toward San Francisco on I-80 will be directed to take the preceding exit, the Albany exit. Motorists heading away from San Francisco will take the University Avenue exit. California Highway Patrol officers will be on hand and CMS signs will guide motorists.
