State Route 24 (SR-24) Caldecott Tunnel Overnight Closure of the Eastbound #1 and #2 Bores & Westbound #3 and #4 Bore for Maintenance Work

ALAMEDA AND CONTRA COSTA COUNTIES – Caltrans has scheduled overnight closures of the eastbound number one and two bores of the State Route 24 (SR-24) Caldecott Tunnel on Monday, September 19 through Tuesday morning, September 20.

Caltrans will also close the westbound number three and four bores of the State Route 24 (SR-24) Caldecott Tunnel on Tuesday, September 20 through Wednesday morning, September 21.

During the work, all other bores in each direction will always remain open.

Eastbound Bore #1 and #2 Closed Monday, September 19:

The #2 bore on SR-24 through the tunnel will be temporarily closed for tunnel maintenance work. The closure will occur Monday, September 19 through Tuesday morning, September 20 starting at 10:00 PM until 1:00 AM the following morning.

The #1 bore on SR-24 through the tunnel will be temporarily closed for tunnel maintenance work. The closure will occur Tuesday morning, September 20 starting at 1:30 AM until 4:30 AM.

Westbound Bore #3 Closed Tuesday, September 20:

The #3 bore on SR-24 through the tunnel will be temporarily closed for tunnel maintenance work. The closure will occur Tuesday, September 20 through Wednesday morning, September 21 starting at 10:00 PM until 4:30 AM the following morning.

Westbound Bore #4 Closed Wednesday, September 21:

The #4 bore on SR-24 through the tunnel will be temporarily closed for tunnel maintenance work. The closure will occur Wednesday, September 21 through Thursday morning, September 22 starting at 10:00 PM until 4:30 AM the following morning.

Traffic Control Measures:

Changeable message signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow extra time. Please drive with caution through the construction zone. Slow for the Cone Zone.
