Reverse Traffic Control Next Week as Installation of Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) Continues on State Route-1 in Marin County

UPDATED: Work is Monday, September 19, through Saturday, September 24

MARIN COUNTY — Caltrans continues the installation of a rectangular rapid flashing beacon (RRFB) at State Route 1 and the Tennessee Avenue intersection near Mill Valley in unincorporated Marin County.

RRFBs are pedestrian-actuated conspicuity enhancements used in combination with a pedestrian, school, or trail crossing warning sign to improve safety at uncontrolled, marked crosswalks. The device includes two rectangular shaped yellow indications, each with an LED-array-based light source, that fash with high frequency when activated.

UPDATE: Caltrans will perform striping operations on the northbound and southbound lanes from Monday, September 19, through the morning of Saturday, September 24. Times are 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday through Friday. Rain is forecast in Marin County for Sunday, September 18, and Monday, September 19, so construction days had to be extended.

Caltrans has built the pole foundations and is currently completing the process of underground utilities work. Changeable message and directional signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. Please drive with caution. Slow for the Cone Zone and Be Work Zone Alert. Caltrans thanks motorists for their patience while we work to maintain our state's highways, bridges, and tunnels.
