Picture of I-80 between Fairfield and Vacaville(SOLANO COUNTY) Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol this week will launch a campaign to help reduce the number of speed violators traveling through construction work zones on a 18-mile stretch of Interstate 80 between the City of Fairfield and the City of Vacaville.

Caltrans has two current construction projects along Interstate 80:  I-80 Managed Lanes and the I-80/I-680/SR-12 Interchange Project which requires 24/7 speed reduction in the construction work zone from 65 MPH to 55 MPH on EB/WB I-80 directions.

The CHP’s maximum enforcement period is scheduled from Monday, September 12 to Friday, September 16 during the weekday commute hours: 6 A.M. to 2 P.M. for eastbound and westbound I-80 between Red Top Road to Leisure Town Road.

Recent Caltrans traffic counts report an increase in speed violations, which have resulted in collisions in the construction work zones along the I-80 corridor between Red Top Road in Fairfield to Leisure Town Road in Vacaville.
