Interstate 80 Six Bridges Project: Magazine Street Overcrossing will be closed to traveling public starting Thursday, April 29, 2021; Motorists are advise to use recommended detour route.

Solano County - Caltrans is continuing its work on increasing the vertical clearance on six bridges which cross over Interstate 80 (I-80) in the City of Vallejo just north of the Carquinez Bridges.

The bridges will be worked on one at a time, starting with Springs Road (Completed Spring 2021), Magazine Street, Benicia Road, Georgia Street, Tennessee Street, and Redwood Street.

The six bridges do not meet the current vertical clearance design standard of 16 feet 6 inches. Caltrans plans to close Magazine Street in May 2021, a complete four-month closure of Magazine Street at I-80 is anticipated to start in May 2021.

Magazine Street Bridge Closed At Interstate 80 Beginning The Week Of April 26, 2020

To ensure worker and public safety, eastbound and westbound Magazine Street will be closed at Interstate 80 for 4 months starting on the week of April 26, 2021 until September 2021.

A 24-hr shuttle service will be available for pedestrians and bicyclists who need to safely cross Magazine Street Overcrossing.
One shuttle stop will be located on each side of the bridge.

Magazine Street Bridge Detour Route Westbound Detour:

Motorists traveling westbound on Magazine Street will need to head southbound on E. Lincoln Road, merging onto the EB I-80 on-ramp towards the I-780 
(Curtola Parkway). Motorists will need to loop off I-780 back onto WB I-80 and take Magazine Street off-ramp towards Lincoln Road.

Eastbound Detour:

Motorists traveling eastbound on Magazine Street will need to head north onto State Route 29 (Sonoma Blvd.), taking a right turn on Lemon Street, towards I-780 (Curtola Parkway) traveling eastbound. Motorists will need to take the Spruce Avenue off-ramp taking a left turn onto Laurel Avenue to WB Magazine Street.

Motorists should expect delays and watch for detour signs. The California Highway Patrol will assist with traffic controls.
