Northbound I-880 Full Overnight Closure Between Whipple Road and Industrial Parkway Saturday, January 30, 2021
HAYWARD—Caltrans has scheduled to completely close all lanes of northbound Interstate 880 between Whipple Road and Industrial Parkway in Hayward overnight Saturday, January 30, 2021.
Northbound I-880 will close at 11 p.m. Jan. 30 and will completely reopen at 6 a.m. the next morning, Sunday, January 31. The closure affects an approximately five-mile-long stretch of northbound I-880. Southbound I-880 will not be affected and will remain open.
The purpose of the closures is to accommodate work on the eastbound Industrial Parkway overcrossing, replacing the damaged bridge girder. Detours will be in place, and changeable message signs and California Highway Patrol officers will be on hand to guide motorists.
Separately from the full Jan. 30 closure, Caltrans has also scheduled to close various lanes on northbound I-880 between Whipple and Industrial overnight starting December 17 and running through spring 2021 between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. With these closures, at least one lane will be open at all times.
Signs and California Highway Patrol officers will be in place to direct motorists.
