For Test Drilling
Right Lane Closes 8:00 PM – 6:00 AM, September 21- October 12, 2020

Sonoma County – Caltrans will close the right lane and shoulder on State Route 37 (SR-37), Sunday – Thursday nights, September 21 - October 12, 2020, between 8:00 PM – 6:00 AM to allow work crews to drill test bores adjacent to the highway. Closures will occur in either the eastbound or westbound direction, depending on the location of the drilling.

The closures will occur between the Petaluma Creek Bridge and the State Route 121 junction. Caltrans will be drilling on both sides of the road, so closures will occur in either the eastbound or westbound direction. However, Caltrans will not simultaneously close eastbound and westbound lanes.

This stretch of SR-37 is a four-lane expressway with two lanes in each direction. Caltrans has scheduled work so that one lane will always be open in the closure direction, and two lanes open in the non-closure direction. Electronic message boards will alert motorists of the lane closures.

Motorists should expect delays when traveling in the direction of the closure.

Caltrans is drilling test bores to obtain geological information in advance of potential projects to address recurring flooding and projected Sea Level Rise.
