2020-09-04 Interstate 680 Benicia Erosion Control Work

Crews will begin daytime activities from 7:00 AM until 3:00 PM on September 8, 2020 to re-build the eroded slope. On Friday, Sept. 11,2020, crews will switch to night work to install a concrete barrier to provide a safety barrier between the travelled way and the work area. During this activity, I-680 SB the right lane and shoulder will be closed starting at 8:00 PM until 5:00 AM, Saturday, Sep. 12, 2020.

After the placement of the concrete barrier, the right shoulder within the limits of the work area will be temporarily closed to traffic until the project is complete.

Motorists should expect delays and slow down at the lane closure zone. The purpose of this project is to restore the roadway to a safe riding condition and mitigate the progression of the reoccurring roadway erosion.
