ALAMEDA COUNTY — Caltrans has scheduled to hold a fire drill on July 22 in the Webster and Posey Tubes (State Route 61) in the cities of Alameda and Oakland.

The fire drill is a routine exercise to test various elements of the tubes’ fire response system. People in the vicinity of the tubes may see clouds of smoke as a result of the drill. This is a normal part of this routine exercise and is no cause for alarm.

Caltrans will close the tubes at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, and reopen them at 5 a.m. Thursday, July 23 for the fire drill.
