For Two Consecutive Nights, May 10-12
Albany and Richmond—Caltrans has scheduled to temporarily close Interstate 580 (I-580) in the southbound direction between Central Avenue in Richmond, heading south to Buchanan Street in Albany, for two consecutive nights, May 10-12. Caltrans plans to temporarily close I-580 at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, May 10, re-opening at 4:00 a.m. Monday, May 11. The freeway will again close at 9:30 p.m. Monday, re- opening at 4:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 12. The purpose of the closure is to accommodate workers repaving eastbound I-580 in that area, smoothing out bumps to give motorists a smoother ride.
Detours
Detours will be in effect. When traveling on I-580 from Central Avenue in Richmond southward to Buchanan Street in Albany, drivers should take the Central Avenue exit, turn right at the traffic light onto Central Avenue eastbound and take the westbound I-
80 onramp.
Motorists should watch for detour signs and expect delays. Caltrans thanks motorists for
