101 Alemany Project Map

Southbound 101 will be closed and traffic will be rerouted to Southbound Interstate 280 daily from 9 PM to 6 AM through the end of the project.

The Alemany Deck Replacement Construction Team is nearing completion of the Southbound U.S. 101 deck reconstruction.

The Northbound U.S. 101 deck has already been demolished and reconstructed. The Southbound deck has also been demolished and the concrete has been poured and cured. The project team is grinding down uneven spots and preparing the surface for painting.

Once the highway lanes have been formed and painted, Caltrans will reopen traffic lanes on Northbound and Southbound 101 and return traffic lanes to their original traffic configuration.  Local residents and businesses are reminded that once the Alemany bridge reopens, small but active construction activity projects will continue over the next few weeks.

Please continue to drive with caution through all construction zones.

SB 101 will continue to be rerouted nightly:

Caltrans will continue closing Southbound 101 from 9:00 PM each night until 6:00 AM the following morning, throughout the remainder of the deck replacement project. The closure will continue rerouting Southbound 101 traffic onto Southbound Interstate 280 starting at 9:PM PM each evening to allow the Southbound 101 Alemany bridge deck to be reconstructed. Southbound 101 traffic will then shift back onto the recently reconstructed Northbound 101 bridge by morning traffic at 6 AM.

Northbound 101 will continue to detour into Northbound 280. Motorists should expect delays.

Detour Options - Diverted 280 traffic can use the following exits to navigate throughout local areas:

    Alemany Blvd
    Geneva Ave
Interstate 380 to route back to San Francisco

Traffic Controls Measures:

Changeable message and directional signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area.
Rumble strips are being installed to ensure speed reduction and safety.
Please drive with caution the construction zone - Slow for the Cone Zone.
