Overnight Closures at the Interstate 880 and SR 238 Interchange

San Leandro – Caltrans will perform repairs at the Northbound (NB) State Route 238 (SR-238)/ Southbound (SB) Interstate 880 (I-880) connector in the City of San Leandro, Alameda County.

The work is scheduled as follows:

  • The connector (onramp) between southbound I-880 and northbound State route 238 will be completely closed. The work will take place overnight, between the hours of 10:00 PM and 4:00 AM until the following morning. The work will start Monday, March 30 and continue nightly until 4:00 AM Saturday, April 4. The onramp will not be closed during the day.

Detour Information 03/30 until 04/04:

  • Exit NB SR-238 at Hesperian Boulevard off-ramp; turn right onto Spring Lake Drive. Take another right on SB Hesperian Boulevard; continue on Hesperian Boulevard past Lewelling Boulevard; turn left at Grant Avenue for the SB I-880 on-ramp.

Additionally, one lane of Interstate 880 that connects to northbound SR-238 will be closed overnight. The lane will be closed between the hours of 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM the following morning.

Detour Information 03/30 until 04/04:

1.    Exit NB I-880 off-ramp at Hesperian Boulevard; continue on Hesperian Boulevard; make a left to enter SB SR-238 on-ramp near College Street (Taco Bell).
2.    Exit SB I-880 off-ramp, make a slight left to continue EB Lewelling Boulevard toward Hesperian Boulevard; make a left onto Hesperian Boulevard, make a left onto College Street (Taco Bell) to enter onto SB SR-238 on-ramp.

Traffic Control Measures:

Changeable message signs and directional signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area.  Please follow posted detour information.  Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow extra time for their commute.  Please drive with caution through the construction zone.  Slow for the Cone Zone.
