Between Oakland and Alameda Full Overnight Tunnel Closures Watch for Detours and Expect Delays Tunnel Maintenance Starts Monday, December 16 at 11:30 PM
Alameda/Oakland – Caltrans has scheduled overnight tunnel maintenance on the State Route 61 (SR-61) (Webster and Posey Tubes) in the Cities of Alameda and Oakland. These closures are needed to conduct annual fire extinguisher inspections in both tunnels. The closures begin Monday, December 16 and Tuesday, December 17, at various times,weather permitting. If it Rains, closures will be rescheduled for a later date.
Closure Information is as follows for each tube:
Webster Tube (leading into Alameda): Full Tube Closure starts Monday, December 16, from 11:30 PM until 2:00 AM Tuesday, December 17.
Posey Tube (leading into Oakland): Full Tube Closure starts Tuesday, December 17, from 2:30 AM until 4:30 AM.
Traffic Controls Measures:
Changeable message signs and directional signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. Please follow posted detour information. Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow extra time for their commute. Please drive with caution through the construction zone. Slow for the Cone Zone.
