State Route 24-Caldecott Tunnel Between Oakland and Orinda Overnight Bore Closure

Tunnel Maintenance Starts Monday, December 16 at 9:30 PM

Oakland/Orinda – Caltrans has scheduled tunnel maintenance on westbound the State Route 24 (SR-24) (Caldecott Bore #4) in the Cities of Oakland and Orinda, Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. This closure is needed to conduct annual fire extinguisher inspections in the Caldecott tunnel.

The overnight bore closure begins Monday, December 16, from 9:30 PM until 12:30 AM on
Tuesday, December 17.

All work is weather permitting. If it rains, closure will be rescheduled for a later date.

At least one bore in each direction will remain open at all times. However, motorists should expect traffic delays overnight.

Overnight Bore Closure Information is as follows:

SR-24 WB (Bore #4): Full Closure starts tonight Monday, December 16, from 9:30 PM until 12:30 AM.

Traffic Controls Measures:

Changeable message signs and directional signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. Please follow posted detour information.  Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow extra time for their commute. Please drive with caution through the construction zone. Slow for the Cone Zone.
