(SOLANO COUNTY)“The State Route 84 (SR-84) Real McCoy Ferry and the SR-220 J-Mack Ferry are scheduled to return to service as soon as the end of December.

The SR-220 J-Mack Ferry was taken out of service for repairs and federally mandated Coast Guard inspections in September. Because the repairs were more extensive than initially estimated, the J-Mack is now scheduled to return to service around the end of December.

The Real McCoy went out of service in late September due to structural failure in the hull. A boat repair company was immediately hired, but there was no room at a repair facility that could accommodate the Real McCoy. Repair work will begin the week of November 4 and this ferry is also scheduled to return to service around the end of December.
Emergency services will be available to Ryer Island residents at all times, 24 hours a day and seven days a week, while the ferries are out. Ambulances and other responders will be dispatched out of Walnut Grove.

During the closure of the ferries, motorists are advised to use the SR-84 Miner Slough Bridge to the north of Ryer Island to access Ryer Island.
