Willows CAPM

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
 Caltrans is planning improvements to State Route 162 in and near Willows, from approximately Airport Road to just east of North Tehama Street. The project will rehabilitate the roadway, improve drainage, upgrade curb ramps to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, update traffic signal equipment near railroad crossings, and replace aging signs and traffic monitoring equipment.

PROJECT LOCATION MAP:

The project is located along State Route 162 in Willows, from approximately 0.1 mile west of Airport Road to 0.1 mile east of North Tehama Street.

PURPOSE AND NEED:

The purpose of the project is to extend the life of the roadway and improve safety, accessibility and reliability along this section of State Route 162.
The pavement has deteriorated over time and requires rehabilitation to prevent further damage. The project will also improve a drainage system to help reduce the potential for flooding. Additional improvements include replacing aging roadside signs and traffic monitoring equipment and upgrading 54 curb ramps to meet current ADA accessibility standards. Some existing traffic signal equipment will also need to be relocated as part of the curb ramp improvements.

FUNDING:

This project is to be programmed into the 2022 State Highway Operation and Protection Program (SHOPP) and will be funded with the 20.XX.201.121 program.
